Design

With every chainring purchase, Sessions Sprockets offers:

1. A unique aesthetic, reflecting your business or shop.  A well-thought-out design with a subtle branding is a powerful advertisement.  

2. An incredibly high-quality product.  Our chainrings start with high-quality, heat treated aluminum and are CNC cut with incredible precision (less than 0.001", or about 1/3 of a hair width.)  The result is a smooth drivetrain that is powerful and responsive, with no "tight spots" or "wobble" due to the chainring.  All of our production work is done in the USA.

3. A novel and well formulated design.  The mechanical design was done by a mechanical engineer from MIT, working with local riders to perfect the design.  The link engagement surfaces are CNC milled instead of turned; resulting in a completely smooth surface.  CNC turned chainrings have little microscopic "grooves" that scrape against the sides of the link as it engages, resulting in frictional losses and noise production.  In addition, the pressure angle of the teeth is designed to be 15 degrees, which results in very little slippage of the chain, and a very solid loading response.  It also promotes longer chain life.  The chainring was not designed behind a desk; it was designed in conjunction with people who actually ride bicycles for a living.  Thus, it is a design that many fixed-gear messengers prefer.
